The mines and the mana
"Take their farms, burn their houses, destroy their capital and bring me their jewels!"
- An unknown Lady
Mana! Types of mana! You need mana in Disciples. Magic in not free. You need mana to be able to get or cast spells, to use staffs.
There are four types of mana based on elements : air, fire, water, earth/death. Each race specializes in a type of magic and needs that type of mana. But all the races can learn other type of magic if they can buy spells in the magic towers. Your allies will also sell you their spells at a high price.
You need two different types of mana to cast levels 3 spells, 3 types to cast levels 4 and 5. Steal the ones belonging to the others. And no, you can not exchange your excess of one type to get another type. Maximum in 9999 of each resources, after a certain level, just use your spell if you don't want to loose them.
You get mana by getting mana mines, actually by planting one of your rod near the mine. Your rod bearer will be more than happy to die trying to plant rods all over the map and stealing the ones of your enemies to plant yours.
The Mountain Clan specializes in Water magic and uses white mana;
The Legion of the Damned specializes in Fire magic and uses red mana;
The Undead Horde specializes in Earth/death magic and uses black mana;
The Empire specializes in Air magic and uses blue mana.
You always have to use you resources in mana in a strategic way in Disciples : Dark Prophecy and Sacred Lands. Save your mana for higher spells.
Take the enemies mines near their capital, they rarely take them back before a couple of turns. This will give an advantage. Once they are out of mana, they can not blast you with long range spells.
