BEGGAR'S BANQUET - I

A new plot for revenge was in order. If Bethrezen could not bring Nevendaar into Hell, why not bring Hell into Nevendaar. And make the entire world a reflection of Hell itself. The Legions heard their God's message and began to concentrate on finding a new medium to transfer their foul god's essence into the land.

In the meantime, the return of the Elven god Gallean has infused the forest dwellers with great new energy, but the confusion has left them open to attack. Their territory is rife with natural energy and magical resources. If the Legions could somehow harness the power of those lands, Bethrezen's essence could only grow stronger at it begins to devour Nevendaar.

With Lord Jarous slain, the Elves of the area were left leaderless. The taint of Hell now crept through the former capitals of the Elven community. While it was true the gold and gems plundered from the castle vaults were treasured prizes, the scripts and ancient texts were of far more interest to the demons.

Saga 2

DEALS AND DEVILS - II

By carefully examining the Elven texts found in the captured castles, the Legions discovered that the Elves controlled a sacred triad of cities protecting a mana well. This well's supernatural power could even be strong enough to re-forge the link between Nevendaar and Hell. Once established, this link would release an infernal plague, of Bethrezen's own design, that would spread upon the land unchecked, destroying all life, leaving the Legions to rule Nevendaar. The cracked and boiling terrain would slowly transform the surface into a mirror of Hell.

The Legions soon realized that the Elves were seeking allies to defend their position. Through the texts they were able to learn of a powerful Avatar who would bring about an alliance between the Elves and the Empire.

If the Empire and the Elves were to seal the alliance and work together to defend the sacred triad, the Legions would have no hope to take the cities. Without the mana well secured, the link between the world of the damned and the world of the mortals would be impossible. Unless the Legions could somehow kill the Avatar, the plague will never be...

The separated remains of Lachla'an were taken to remote locations by the most trusted of demons.

The collaboration with Crowley's army had been doubly fruitful: the Legions had managed to locate the Avatar and they had succeeded in making the Elves believe the Empire was to blame for his death.

Saga 3

BREAKING OF THE THREE - III

With Lachla'an slain, a war between the Empire and the Elves was inevitable. A peaceful alliance had been reduced to what would soon be a bloody war. The demons could not have been more pleased with their results.

However, the demons would not be idle for long. More important and pressing matters concerned them - the continued manipulation of that clown, Crowley, and most of all: the Mystic Well. Could the Elves, safe in their protective triad, feel the darkness now fast approaching?

Finally, access to the triad of cities had be secured. Thanks to Count Crowley, the Legions had managed to thwart all alliances, leaving the Elves on their own to protect their magic well.

The Legions expected to collaborate with Crowley once more. With their forces combined, they would rule all creatures, in Nevendaar and in Hell.

With the downfall of the three cities, the Elven magic would surely be corrupted and the plague would spew from the center of the magic well to consume Nevendaar. The Legions prepared for the last great march to destroy the Elves.

With the last city taken, the demonologists began chanting in unholy tongues. The entranced demon masses circled the well, caught in an insatiable blood lust. They tore at one another, and legends say more demons were lost in this one "celebration" than any other single day in the war.

THE END

The well begin to emit a horrible noise, the sound of thousands of suffering souls drowned out the demonic cacophony. The Legions backed away from the source, knowing direct contact with Bethrezen's power would obliterate even the strongest of their kind.

Suddenly, the well erupted and Bethrezen's plague stained the land around it. The blistering wave of molten energy shot through the forests, felling trees and animals. The elves who had sought sanctuary high in their forest homes had no escape. They fell into the bubbling tide and perished.

Bethrezen's will now wound its way through Nevendaar with tremendous power. Soon it will reach Humans lands. Whether due to the energy itself or due to the unholy religious fervor brought about their god's triumph, the Legions were infused with new hatred and unfathomable strength. Soon Nevendaar and Hell will be one.
